Make sure you are confortable with keyboard shortcuts - you can pick existing theme like netbeans or vscode and tweak it futher.Laravel is a web application framework with expressive, elegant syntax.
For example with laravel plugin you can CTRL+Click to translation to jump right to it and so much moreĬhange lists and phpstorm's shelve together with git integration is just a fucking massive thing you need to learn how to use it. Yet PhpStorm does work so great you can't compare it to anything. Will break every IDE so no IDE will understand what User::where() does
I loved learning about Live Templates (type a short string & it auto expands into something much larger: type pubf & then hit tab, it becomes a full public function () Learn the shortcuts, force yourself to use them. I'm awesome in PhpStorm & that laracast made me even better. I would greatly appreciate any direction you guys can provide to help improve my dev process.
I am almost certain that this is caused by my ignorance but I cannot seem to get a grasp on understanding how to use phpstorm effectively to improve my development process. I thought this thing was supposed to be so smart! I am actually regretting signing up to PhpStorm at this point. It doesn't help that there are a lot of errors/warnings in PhpStorm that stem from it not understanding my code well enough to, say, figure out that a controller function is being used by web.php or even understanding that the "where" method does exist for models using eloquent. I have installed all the relevant extensions (Laravel IDE Helper and the PhpStorm Laravel and Blade extensions) and followed the laracast Be Awesome in PhpStorm but I still cannot seem to get things down where it's a better experience. I had been using Sublime for a few years until this year I bit the bullet and switched to phpstorm.
